Book Club- Wicked Appetite

I’ve been working on reading this latest book for a while. I’ve been in a real reading slump lately, and haven’t been reading as avidly as I like to, especially considering how much I love books, and english, and really everything literature. My mom suggested this author to me, and this just happened to be the first one I chose to read by her, and I ended up absolutely LOVING it.

Synopsis:

Janet Evanovich writes an exciting and funny tale of Lizzy, a cupcake chef in Boston who is one day confronted by two men, each claiming that she has special powers and they need her. This book follows Lizzy as she discovers who she is, along with her two closest friends and co-workers, a cat, a monkey, and a handsome man named Diesel. Evanovich keeps it light with constant sarcasm and humor throughout the book. The book is a good mix of fantastical and

Why I Chose This Book:

I was drawn to the bright red cover, and the synopsis on the back of the book. I loved the mix of magic and real life, brought into one.

What I Didn’t Like:

I had a bit of a hard time getting into the book, at first. There are a few parts that can seem a bit slow, but overall, Evanovich keeps it interesting, and unique; with a good sense of humor mixed in.

What I Did Like:

My favorite part was the constant sarcasm and dry humor. There were quite a few times while I was reading that I actually laughed out loud. I also have always loved fantasies, things like Harry Potter and Percy Jackson. The world that Evanovich creates is one that you can easily place yourself into, and imagine. It is creative and genius, without getting out of hand. Not only that, but every character, even the animals have quirky and unique personalities that help carry the book really well.

I believe this book is a whole series, which I need to continue reading. I would highly recommend this book to anyone who is looking to read about adventures and laugh out loud while they read!
